What is 802.11n? 802.11n is the next-generation wireless technology standard that lets Wi-Fi–enabled devices like the AirPort Extreme Base Station deliver blazing data transfer speeds and incredible range. Most new Mac computers ship with built-in 802.11n. However, you can also connect PCs and other wireless devices that use 802.11a, b, or g technologies to your 802.11n-based network. | Can I set up a wireless network myself? Absolutely. AirPort Utility for Mac and Windows will guide you through the process in plain English—and it only takes about five minutes. For the most basic setup, all you have to do is plug in your base station and connect your DSL or cable modem. Then open the AirPort Utility software and follow the step-by-step instructions.
